“Pictures really aren’t my thing,” he said with a smile.

The returning state champion was the center of attention because he became only the second Viking to reach 100 career wins, joining 1986 graduate Jim Orichoskey (111-15 career record), with a pin of Nick Kost in 1:07 at 132 pounds.

McMillen’s pin was one of seven falls for the 11-1 Vikings, who rolled to a 56-24 win in a packed gymnasium in a match that took about 45 minutes.

“That’s our team,” Glendale coach Billy Dubler said of the pins. “Our guys are constantly looking to score, constantly looking for bonus points. They’re just zoned in for the big tournament this weekend at Escape The Rock.”

“Too many pins,” B-A coach Tim Andrekovich said. “They’ve got some studs coming up through the middle there.”

McMillen amassed a 9-1 lead before hooking up a cradle and getting the first-period fall.

As soon as the bout was over, the large Glendale crowd erupted in celebration and held up 100 wins signs. The announcement was made about the milestone, and the B-A crowd joined in a standing ovation.

Dubler and McMillen posed for photos with a sign that read: “Congratulations Brock McMillen 100 wins.” It was that sign that McMillen posed with after the dual meet.

“It feels real good,” McMillen said. “It’s another milestone in my career and another goal I can check off. I’m just grateful that everyone supports me on my team. I’m glad to see everyone else is excited for me to get 100 wins, I guess.”

“It’s just an awesome night for Glendale,” Dubler said. “It’s well-deserved, well-earned. It’s a great feat to get to 100 wins.”

“It was good to see Brock get 100,” Andrekovich said. “You’ve got to root for a kid like that. He’s a good wrestler, good kid. We’re proud to acknowledge him.”

The match began with Glendale’s Tristan Rutter amassing nine nearfall points in a 15-0 technical fall over Landon Bungo.

After B-A stars Aiden and Alex Taylor won by forfeit at 152 and 160, respectively, the most entertaining bout was wrestled at 170. B-A’s Jason Plubell held a 4-1 lead over Logan Smith after the first period, and the score was tied, 6-6, after the second period.

In the third, Smith took Plubell down, but Plubell escaped and took Smith down with 30 seconds left. Plubell attempted to cradle Smith in the final 15 seconds, but Smith slipped through the cradle to score a reversal with 3 seconds remaining to win, 10-9.

“That was an awesome match,” Dubler said. “Logan Smith has been doing a great job, and I love to see those gutcheck wins. Both kids were working really hard, so those are the type of matches you love to see.”

“That was just inexperience,” Andrekovich said. “I like the effort.”

It was the only bout that went the distance.

Glendale freshman Britton Spangle led Zach Cunningham, 4-1, at 182 when he headlocked Cunningham to his back and pinned him in 2:28.

Glendale’s Seth Dudurich, ranked No. 1 by the Mirror at 195, followed with a pin in 1:12. Teammate and returning state sixth-placer Cory Johnston recorded a pin 34 seconds at 220.

The anticipated 285-pound bout between B-A’s top-ranked Evan Pellegrine and Glendale’s fourth-ranked Kyle Jasper didn’t happen as Pellegrine pinned Brock Smeal in 34 seconds.

“We wanted to give Brock the nod,” Dubler said. “He’s been working hard in the room. He hasn’t had much mat time this year. Kyle has a history with Pellegrine. They’ve wrestled multiple times, so they know each other.”

At 106, Glendale’s Dustin Hockenberry took Nathan Rabenstein down, but Rabenstein scored a reversal, put Hockenberry on his back and pinned him in 1:38.

Viking 113-pounder Zeke Dubler used a cradle for a fall in 44 seconds. Teammate Mason St. Clair picked up a forfeit at 120.

Top-ranked Suds Dubler gave the Vikings a 44-24 lead by getting a pin in 1:23.

After McMillen’s history-making win, Glendale’s Garret Misiura closed the meet with a fall in 3:07.

The Vikings will hit the road this weekend to wrestle in the Escape The Rock Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at Council Rock South High School. McMillen is seeded third at his weight.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Coach Dubler said. “Our guys are going to get tested there. We’re looking for hard wrestling and getting tested before the postseason. It’s a hard tournament to get into.”
