Glendale softball player Kyla Campbell has been named The Progress’ female Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 18.
Campbell threw all seven innings in the Inter-County Conference title game, allowing just two earned runs on eight hits and three walks. She struck out eight. At the plate, she was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
“Kyla puts a lot of outside effort into working on her pitching,” said Glendale coach Beth Campbell. “Every now and then you see the freshman nerves showing through, but it doesn’t last long. That game was the biggest game she had ever played in and once the nerves were gone, she had a great day.”
